Congratulations to our vocational student, Macy, on being awarded a Women in Trades Scholarship through North Metropolitan TAFE.

This scholarship is designed to improve women’s economic participation and support greater gender equality in the workforce, particularly within traditionally male‑dominated fields such as building and construction and science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

The scholarship provides important support to students pursuing vocational education as they transition beyond high school while managing the increasing cost of living. Students enrolled in the CK Maloney Surveying Student Program complete their qualifications while gaining industry experience around their study timetables, often supplementing their income with additional casual employment in hospitality and retail, including evenings and weekends. Thus, this additional scholarship is a fantastic support from the TAFE Institution.

Balancing study commitments alongside work responsibilities can be particularly demanding in the early stages of a career. Scholarships such as this play a vital role in reducing financial pressure and enabling students to focus on developing their technical skills and professional capabilities.

For students or employers interested in future opportunities, applications for this scholarship will reopen in due course.

We congratulate Macy on this well‑deserved achievement and look forward to her continued progress.
